Big Al's is the kind of BBQ place that you don't see coming but man, the food delivers deliciousness beyond words! The place is straight forward - a simple sign outside, 6-7 tables inside w/a few more seats at the counter, and some UT decorations tossed about. It's not much to look at but remember, you're there for the BBQ not the decorations. The BBQ makes you speechless. Flavorful, moist, complex. In one bite you taste the hours of smoking and years of work that went into each delicious recipe and piece of meat. All conversations up to this point will stop and the collective silence only cements how dang good the BBQ really is. And the sides, they proudly hold their own along w/the meat. The mac and cheese is so creamy and the baked beans are smooth and rich. Lastly, if you still have room, you MUST try the pie. Whether it's the pecan pie, chocolate pie or buttermilk pie you will just say, "whoa, that is some seriously good pie". The jury is still out on which pie is the best (our group couldn't decide b/c they're all so good) so whether you try one or all you won't be disappointed! Big Al's is a keeper in our book and we can't wait to go back!

Great independent owner operated place. Its easy to drive by without noticing, but the food is great. Place is clean and you're as comfortable as eating at home.

Big Al's was closed on the Sunday afternoon that a friend and stopped by. Even though they were closed Al invited us in and told us he was cleaning up after a big catering week end and that he could "whip us up a couple of sandwiches" which he did. The pulled pork was great and we were very hungry so we ate and left. Just the fact the he opened just for us was enough to make a regular out of me. I have been in there several times since and must say that the Brisket is incredible and the white beans are great! Big Al's is a great place to enjoy really good BBQ in a very comfortable setting...and the service is OUTSTANDING!!!!

It's only a matter of time till Big Al's is no longer a secret. I have been meaning to stop by for months and when I finally did I did not expect the bar b que to be the best that Wilson county has to offer. Great smoke flavor, long pulled pieces and generous portions made me write this review. I will definitely be visiting again soon. The white beans alone are worth the visit.

Love this place! The BBQ is World Class and the owner, Tim is really nice man. This is a hidden gem just outside the Mt Juliet city limits on Lebanon Rd. It's not the most classiest restaurant by no stretch, very simple with a couple tables, got that At Grandma's house kinda feel...The BBQ is lean, juicy and has the best smoked taste hands down!!! You can feel good about supporting this local BBQ joint. Hats off to Big Al's BBQ!!!

If you see this place stop and eat here you wont be disappointed. The ribs and brisket are some of the best I have ate. The BBQ was on the dry side and is good but not great. I would give this place 4.5 stars because even the sides were great. The okra and mac n cheese were awesome. And they do the mayo based slaw which to me was better than the vinegar based in most places.
